Eric's Diary

guitars strings amplification pickups endorsements

In 2001 Bill Puplett fitted a FISHMAN RARE EARTH Blend System to the O10.
The pick up system consists of an active hum canceling magnetic pick up.
This is fitted across the sound hole. Attached to the magnetic pick up is
an AKG hyper-cardoid condenser microphone.

The microphone is a small adjustable arm that can be bent into shape and so
place the microphone in any position inside the guitar body. It was this system
that ultimately allowed Eric to develop his playing techniques in concert.

The guitar uses TWO output sockets - one for the piezo output, and the second a stereo
output for the blend system. This stereo output goes to a splitter box that splits the
magnetic and microphone signals. This in effect creates three outputs after this splitter
stage: magnetic, microphone and piezo.

Each signal goes to a separate channel on the mixing desk and this allows each signal
to be processed and EQ'd individually. In 2000 Bill Puplett fitted an "RMC Poly-Drive 1"
pick up system and saddle. This now creates a fourth output for midi signals. This midi
signal controls a Roland GR30 guitar synth. The RMC piezo pick up replaces the original
undersaddle pick up. The RMC allows Eric to blend the midi signal with the piezo sound.
The midi signal goes to a THIRD 13 pin MIDI socket (SEE Diagram 2).
