| I'm playing the Perc U Lator as I write this and it takes me back to what I'll always remember as truly outstanding performances - I had never seen anything like it. I had the pleasure to meet Eric several times and attend his workshops at Bath Spa Uni. A truly lovely man who had time for everyone and encouraged us all. Like many, many people I was and am very saddened that he is no longer with us. In fact he talked about his illness with amazing braveness at one workshop. He leaves a legacy of music, inspiration and generosity and, with his books and CD's - a lasting record of a man who in his short time, lived his life to the full. Thanks for the memories Eric - I'm still perfecting Blackbird! Ben |

| So remember the happy memories of Eric in Newton Ferrers. You don't get many of him to the pound! Trusting that God is now an expert in finger style guitar playing. Lots of love to his family - Dee |

| Steve and I saw Eric at the Birmingham Music Festival at the NEC in 2001. He was astonishing - and as I watched him and his smiles as he played, I was struck by what a genuine, warm and wonderful person he was. We spoke briefly, and he had no ego - just kindness. Only today, Steve and i looked him up again to discover he had died - and are sat here now so deeply moved that someone so talented, so modest, and so sincere should have been taken. Our thoughts to his family, Candy, and his wonderful children. He brought much happiness to our world, and we are now looking out all his music to remember him with you.
God Bless Eric - Emma & Steve xx |

| Eric was so modest! I was about 11 when i last saw him, not long before he unfortunately left us. Me and my dad used to be at every gig of his we could have done that he did in and around the area, and he was always an inspiration, and still is, as i listen to his recordings still in awe of his playing! I met him a few times at his gigs, he signed some stuff, the moment he asked if i was the guy in the front nodding my head, and told me he used me to keep time, ill never forget. Felt so good. The last gig i saw him play, he sung, 'I get knocked down, but i get up again, you won't ever bring me down.' condolences to his family, and to the world of music for the loss of such a genuine talent. |

| Dear Roche family,
I have thought of you all so often and I treasure the memories of Eric's performances (live & recorded) that continue to bless my life. Also of the privilege and honour that was mine in being able to share some of Eric's last moments - offering healing and sharing poetry with him.
Candy, if you see this message please get in touch as I have some money that I would like to send to you (no fortune, I'm afraid, just a bit to cover copies that I have made to share Eric's talent with some friends but every little helps I am sure).
I hope that you are doing well and that the children are thriving. I would love to hear from you. As you see, I am living in Canada again although the transition has been far from easy in many ways.
All the best and love to you all,
Richard |

| I only met eric briefly at a summer school at ACM but I still remember his lessons now and pass on the valuable information that he gave to me. He was a great tutor and a very inspiring person, someone I and am sure many others really look up to. |

| I always thought Rory Gallagher was the only truly great guitarist to come out of Ireland but after recently discovering Eric's music there's no doubt in my mind that he'll be remembered on the same level. Inspirational guitar player and I'm sorry I wasn't familiar his music earlier, his spirit lives on through his wonderful music. RIP |

| I first saw Eric several years ago, taken to a concert by my guitar-playing husband, Terry. I am not a musician, just a music lover. I didn't have any idea what Eric's performing was like. I can't think of words adequate to describe how it made me feel. Transported. Flying. Blissful. He was brilliant, remarkable, superb. We play his music regularly, it is part of the fabric of our lives. Knew nothing of his illness ( we are fogies and only recently using computers) until he died. We felt bereft. Hearts are with his family. What a loss.
My day has been MADE as I have just discovered Youtube and his video clips. What treasure ! What JOY to "see" him again. We will never forget him. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
" The soul takes flight to the world that is Invisible, and there arriving it is sure of Bliss, and Forever dwells in Paradise ". Our love to all who care for Eric. xx |

| I never had the privelege of meeting Eric when he was still with us. I only recently discovered him and I was so moved by his music that I wrote a piece and dedicated it to him. This is intended for Eric's memory, and to Eric's family, know that I have the greatest amount of respect I could possibly give to any man. Eric will always have that from me, here is a link to the song I dedicated to him and his family.

| I was lucky enough to be taught by Eric at the ACM. I'll always remember his warm, intimate teaching style and the insight he shared with us. I remember one class in particular. I was just warming up and played a note which caught his attention. He remarked, 'What a beautiful note!' It was from then on that I was inspired to try and make every note just as beautiful.
Thank you, Eric.

| Hard to believe it's been 4 years already. I treasure the memories of the 3 live shows I caught, so inspirational to me at a young age and as a budding musician. I spent a short time with Eric, and even with swarms of people around he still made the time to give me advice and guidance, which still stands to me to this day, many years later. Rest easy, Eric. |

| I can't believe it's been 4 years since Eric's passing. I only saw Eric perform once and spent time chatting to him afterwrds . Apart from being an inspiration to me as a consumate musician and innovator, Eric had a lovely approachable way about him and a passion to share his knowledge. |

| I didn't know Eric personally and wish I had the opportunity to thank him for inspiring me to take up the guitar a while back. I never tire of listening to his albums and am constantly inspired to play the best I can depite a lack of talent. |
