I had the pleasure to meet Eric several times and attend his workshops at Bath Spa Uni. A truly lovely man who had time for everyone and encouraged us all. Like many, many people I was and am very saddened that he is no longer with us. In fact he talked about his illness with amazing braveness at one workshop. He leaves a legacy of music, inspiration and generosity and, with his books and CD's - a lasting record of a man who in his short time, lived his life to the full. He was astonishing - and as I watched him and his smiles as he played, I was struck by what a genuine, warm and wonderful person he was. We spoke briefly, and he had no ego - just kindness. Only today, Steve and i looked him up again to discover he had died - and are sat here now so deeply moved that someone so talented, so modest, and so sincere should have been taken. Me and my dad used to be at every gig of his we could have done that he did in and around the area, and he was always an inspiration, and still is, as i listen to his recordings still in awe of his playing! I met him a few times at his gigs, he signed some stuff, the moment he asked if i was the guy in the front nodding my head, and told me he used me to keep time, ill never forget. Felt so good.
