I first saw Eric several years ago, taken to a concert by my guitar-playing husband, Terry. I am not a musician, just a music lover. I didn't have any idea what Eric's performing was like. I can't think of words adequate to describe how it made me feel. Transported. Flying. Blissful. He was brilliant, remarkable, superb. We play his music regularly, it is part of the fabric of our lives. Knew nothing of his illness ( we are fogies and only recently using computers) until he died. We felt bereft. Hearts are with his family. What a loss. My day has been MADE as I have just discovered Youtube and his video clips. What treasure ! What JOY to "see" him again. We will never forget him. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. " The soul takes flight to the world that is Invisible, and there arriving it is sure of Bliss, and Forever dwells in Paradise ". Our love to all who care for Eric. xx

I never had the privelege of meeting Eric when he was still with us. I only recently discovered him and I was so moved by his music that I wrote a piece and dedicated it to him. This is intended for Eric's memory, and to Eric's family, know that I have the greatest amount of respect I could possibly give to any man. Eric will always have that from me, here is a link to the song I dedicated to him and his family. www.soundclick.com/share?songid=8566190 May Eric always be remembered

Just found this site by accident after googling my date of birth, which is the exact same as Eric's. I'm honoured to share it with such a talented man. My condolences to Eric's family. x

I was lucky enough to be taught by Eric at the ACM. I'll always remember his warm, intimate teaching style and the insight he shared with us. I remember one class in particular. I was just warming up and played a note which caught his attention. He remarked, 'What a beautiful note!' It was from then on that I was inspired to try and make every note just as beautiful. Thank you, Eric.

Hard to believe it's been 4 years already. I treasure the memories of the 3 live shows I caught, so inspirational to me at a young age and as a budding musician. I spent a short time with Eric, and even with swarms of people around he still made the time to give me advice and guidance, which still stands to me to this day, many years later. Rest easy, Eric.

I can't believe it's been 4 years since Eric's passing. I only saw Eric perform once and spent time chatting to him afterwrds . Apart from being an inspiration to me as a consumate musician and innovator, Eric had a lovely approachable way about him and a passion to share his knowledge.

I didn't know Eric personally and wish I had the opportunity to thank him for inspiring me to take up the guitar a while back. I never tire of listening to his albums and am constantly inspired to play the best I can depite a lack of talent.

Eric's guitar style is beautiful. It is rare that one so gifted is also humble. I will miss hearing his unique gift. Perhaps one of his children will have his gift too. jim

Four years have passed, and yet I still feel myself inspired by Eric every time I pick up the guitar. I caught the reflection of myself in the TV screen this morning, and I realised I'd even picked up some of Eric's quirky little stage mannerisms! Eric was much more than just a guitarist, I miss lots of things about him, especially his sense of fun. Lots of love to you and the kids Candy - I know things must be tough for you, but be assured that Eric's memory will be kept alive, and he left a wonderful legacy for everyone. I've got some footage that Mark Beumers took down in Devon on the first Guitar Workshop. I sent it on to Brian so I assume you've got it. If not - send me an email and I'll send you a disc. Deano

I first saw Eric about six years ago at a very small festival near Hailsham, from that moment on I was spellbound by his extraordinary talent. I never knew him personally but when I listen to his music it makes me feel that I do. I'm writing because I've been listening to 'With these hands' nearly every day recently, as I am going through a tricky time myself, but I never seem to tire of it. I am a musician and have an interest in many styles of music but Eric's magical sound is always amongst the 'most played' on my ipod. I have introduced many people to his incredible music so may his legacy go on forever. Such a cruel end to a huge talent. Warmest regards and wishes to his family. Jonathan Madden

Dear family, I've never met Eric though I am amongst the thousands of people who are caught by Eric's legacy. I came across Eric on YouTube watching his version of 'Jump'. The moment I saw it I was caught by his play, his joy and his unbelievable musicality. My all time favorite of Eric is 'Ce petit cochon', especially his live performance on NAMM. Brilliant composition, smoothly performed with - I guess that's typically his - humour. Just learned that recently was his 4th Anniversary since he sadly passed away. Sure do hope that life's treating you well nowadays and that his presence is still amongst you. Thrilled to hear that Eric's touch seems to be passed on to his children as well so I'll wait for the moment you'll show up on YouTube as well, honouring your father! :-) Take care of yourself and I'll get back to my iPod listening to Eric's 'Ce petit cochon'. Cheers, Joris

Standing in my kitchen this morning, sun shining & in need of some music to compliment the task of washing up!, I instinctly knew which cd to play The Perc u lator. When track 4 floated around the room, I was transported back to that sunny day 8 years ago when Eric blessed us with his glorious talent, and played at our wedding. Walking in with my mother to the delicate sound of 'Road to Breacon' will stay with me always & when I do travel that road, which we do often, he is always in our thoughts. Always missed, but oh so near when you hear his music. Love & blessings to you and yours Candy, Sharon, Bryn & Rowan xxxx

Eric and Candy came into Syra and my thoughts yesterday for no apparent reason. We remembered the day you visited us with a very small Stefan. I met Eric often at various music fairs - a genius and a sweet man.

I played a support slot for Eric at Chesham Fingerstyle Guitar club in 2005 i think. I'd seen him do a set there before (that was fantastic!) and really enjoyed his articles in Guitar Techniques. He gave me some great advice about playing at the time that i'm really greatfull for. I'm now studying for a degree in Folk and Traditional music and have wrote a piece as a dedication to him. Always a kind and generous spirit he will be eternally in our hearts through the memories we have, his albums and the articles he wrote. A truely great player and musician. Peace and thanks Simon

Hi Candy, You are very welcome to bring the kids in to see my workshop if you are down in the south-east some time - I'm sure I can come up with a few stories about Eric for them! Love to you all, Nick.

Stefan(7), Francesca(5) and I have spent a wonderful day remembering Eric. We were lucky to have warm and sunny weather, so spent the day outside. We picniked by Eric's memorial reminising and looking at photographs. It felt a very natural and spiritual, and healthily "fun" thing to do. Later in the afternoon, we looked up Eric on Youtube... Francesca carefully copying her daddy with her version of strumming, scratching and banging her guitar. She looked good! It's so important for me to keep Eric's memory alive, especially for our children, who were very young when Eric died. They love hearing stories of his life as a musician, teacher and friend. So if you haven't yet looked at the Guestbook, please do and enter any special memories you have of Eric whether as a friend, past pupil, musician etc. All these messages will be kept as a keepsake for our children. With my thanks.
