| i missed watching his last performance and i really regret it now, i only really started playing acoustic quite recently, well in the past year, and was listening to newton faulkner, who is a real influence and i tacked down his line of influences and found eric. my friend had constantly told me to go see him and i wish i had now. |

| I found myself thinking tonight of you Eric and I searched you out on my favourites- I hadn't realised the date and how time flies. You were inspirational to me and as I watch you on those You Tube Clips I feel honoured you spent time to phone me and to share a drink. Candy - my love of course flows to you and the kids - A wonderful, wonderful, wonderful man! How proud you must be - Mike x |

| On Sat, I was sitting down with a cup of tea and found myself roumaging through my cd collection, picked out Eric Roches 'live and inspirational' and put it on, i hadn't realised it was the date of his anniversary until today, it was very strange as i hadn't listened to that cd for a long time. And then i find myself here today,
I still regret never having my lesson with Eric but am so glad that he is still teaching in a lot of ways, for the last 3 years i have realy dveloped my guitar playing, have a new guitar and have started to gain confidence in myself and i even have a myspace page, (i thought i would never get to the stage of letting people hear me!) and although i am not an amazing guitarist i thank Eric so much for bringing me back to guitar when i had given it up and for helping me see that learning fingerstyle guitar is important to me so it doesn't matter about making it or how good i am as long as i enjoy playing and learning and why not share that with those who wish to listen.
Although i miss seeing you i don't miss you because to me you are still here!, guiding all the guitarists of the world to a better understanding of themselves.
Am glad i find myself here to remember you today and for all that you have taught me about myself and my guitar.
Love to Eric, Eric's family, friends and to all who knew him.
hugs x

| Also a hello from me and to send my wishes to Candy and Family as well as Erics parents and family in Ireland. I think of my good friend a lot and was reminded of his talent when I watched some of his performances on Youtube - Here he is forever young. It is also great to see the inspirational effect he had on many other artists. Fondly remembered and missed.

| Just to say hello to Candy, Stefan, Francesca, Cora, Raymond, Carmel and Brian, and of course his many family and friends. Eric is still an inspiration to me, as from time to time I have my little life difficulties, and I think of what he achieved in a short time, and how much love and time he spent with people, without realising how much he touched people with his soul. I miss him as a friend and a good human being, god knows we need lots of them in the world today. Hope your day isn't too stressfull and we continue to remember what a great person he was....................M |

| Just wanted to say thank you to Eric. I have been playing for 35 years and was looking for new challanges when I ran across The Acoustic Guitar Bible. It's a wonderful primer for any guitarist, and the performance pieces at the end of the book certainly have caused me to rethink the possibilities of the fretboard.
His exhortations about practicing and the empathetic way Eric descirbes the process of learning the guitar are inspiring and reassuring. Somehow, I think Eric would agree that no matter how proficient one may become on the insturment, there is always "something more" to be discovered. You may begin with a desire to master the guitar, but ultimatley you dicover that the guitar has mastered you.
Gods' speed, Eric, I am hoping to meet you a bit further down the road. |

| I have recently taken up the challange of learning to play the guitar. After going through about 10-12 guitar books in the bookshop I finally went for Eric's 'The acoustic guitar bible'. I found the book very useful and decided to check out the other gutarist mentioned by Eric in the book in Youtube and Wikipedia. Finally I checked about Eric and in the comments below I found out to my horror that he was no more. Though I had not heard of him before I was deeply shocked and sad that we have lost such a musical genius. Rest in peace, Eric. My good wishes to your family. |

| Eric took my induction when I joined G.I.T in 1995, and was the one who rubber stamped my application.
When I heard of his passing a year and a half ago I was truly shocked. His enthusiasm for music was exceptional, and I'm a bit stumped as to why I didn't think to come here and post.
In an evironment where we learnt and played Jazz, Latin and in my case banged out a shit load of blues chops on top, here was a guy who'd get a beautiful Lowden out, tune it to DADGAD and send you somewhere else.
I don't play as often these days, and haven't for some time, but know that if I had an ounce of his desire to play the guitar, my wife would probably putting mine on ebay just so she got a look in!
Rest well Eric, and thoughts and best wishes to those you left behind.
